Thanksgiving Ride

Today I drove my Model A to Thanksgiving dinner at my mom's house. It was a nice day and folks enjoyed looking at the car. Getting compliments is always nice, but when I got back home, I think I got the most satisfaction out of that car since I bought it.

Some guests at my next door neighbor's house saw me driving in. There were two gentlemen who were in their 90's. I believe they were brothers but at any rate they proceeded to tell me about their experiences with Model A's. When I offered to take them out for a ride, they both put on a wide smile, and were eager to go. We took a ride of a few miles and they continued their reminiscing as we drove. When we returned they thanked me many times for bringing back old memories. I had never thought about the impact a simple car ride could offer, but it was a good feeling to have spread a little happiness.

This is my first model A, and I have only had it since June. There have been many times when I wondered why I bought the darn thing, but today, I was very glad I did. It was a nice ending to my Thanksgiving. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Great story! These old cars have a way of bringing back memories for some and creating new ones for others. Thanks for sharing.

Those are the best moments; sharing a bit of your joy.

I had fun taking all of our guests for a Thanksgiving ride today. They had a million questions, but I only answered one hundred of them.

By giving those two gentlemen a ride, you sparked the memory of their youth, and tonight, while they sleep, that spark will ignite, and in their dreams they will live once again their youth.
Smiles? Ya I'd say so.
You did a wonderful thing.

Great Story... I too find that giving a ride and willingness to talk to folks about them is the best!

Not to hijack the thread... but last week I had a nice experience as well about the Model A.. on an airplane. I was taking my Mom down to Florida for her brothers 90th birthday party... and next to me was a 95 year old gentleman... I had my Model A News in hand and he was mesmerized in reminiscing about his experiences in Model A's over years gone by. I made his day and he made mine. Best Flight ever...

The Model A's are "friendly" cars.... always have been, always will. It's up to us to keep it going and do our part to that.

Happy thanksgiving!

What was that saying " you meet the nicest people on a Honda "
You did a good thing :-) making two 90 yr olds feel younger
Money well spent for your "A". Keep spreading the "Love"

...it was a good feeling to have spread a little happiness...

You have found the number one reason to own an A, smiles.

Yep - I love seeing the reaction of people every time I take a drive somewhere - smiles, waves, and occasional folks who stop by when I'm parked to chat/ask questions or (more rarely) reminisce about their long-ago experiences in a Model A. You did good, Coneross

Thanksgiving day I took my three grandsons on a ride down, about 20 miles, to see their 103 year old great grandmother. She told them that she had learned to drive in a Model A and remembered how she filled the gas tank just in front of the windshield. A fun day.

Our 1929 Tudor has been a member of our home since 1968 and we raised all our kids in it. Holidays are always a good excuse to take our Tudor out to share it with the family. Thanksgiving was no exception. Shown here is our grand daughter Kaela who loves our trusty Tudor
