teds floaters

I am in the process? of installing a pair of Teds Floaters on the rear brakes and have run into one problem after another. Now the outer edge of the linings grind against the drum. Without the long spring attached (not to be used on these floaters) the brake shoes wobble from side to side like floppy. I have replaced the pins, adjusting shafts, springs, and all with new parts.
Does anyone in the Barn know what might be happening and how it can be resolved. Only if you have experience with this accessory brake part.
Boy, I'd sure like to get this thing back on the road.
Thanks guys

if you have all new parts and rollers and your drums are in specs...why use teds? I got ride of them for the same reason. The shoes are not made to operate the way he is trying to make them work. End of story

I install Ted floaters was the best thing i ever added to any of my four model A's, Now to your problem make sure the two other springs are in good working order, on the front you remove the rollers but not the back and also make sure you wedge pins are install right if backward this could give you problems, once done you will be as happy as can be. I never could slide the tire now no problem

Thanks Allen. I'll take another look. Springs are all new as are wedges, but will double check them. Sounds like you got em right on your Fords.

I have Ted's floaters on my 30 coupe and they work fine. One area that is critical is the ability of the "brake adjusting shafts to easily move back and forth in the adjustment holder where you place the adjusting wedge. I had to grind the sides of the brake adjusting shafts quite a bit in order to let them move freely. If one is jammed, this would prevent your hub from going on easily.
