Techniques to install a new floor pan

I will be repacing the floor pan under the front seat of my 31 S/W sedan. What is the best way too do it. Cut out old one and tack weld from top or bottom? How much overlap from old to new? Any tips appreciated.

What floor pan are you planning to use as I was unaware anyone was reproducing the S/W pans. The late Cabriolet pan is not as wide and the edges taper down. If you are handy with sheetmetal fab, you can split the 4 corners to widen the repro pan and then add a pie-shaped piece in to fill in the gap caused by the split.

Snyder's part #A-635-B Says for 68-C, Slant window sedans and late 31 Coupe. Seems to fit when I placed it over the old one.

I'm pretty sure the 68C and 45B had a different shaped pan than your body, ...not saying that it would not work though. I prefer to butt-weld the panel in instead of a lap-weld.

I am just confused here.

There only a couple of pans on the 68c and that would be the under front seat tool pan and the rear taped pan. The front pan is the same for slant fordor. The rear pan is the same as coupe just bent different for the wood sills.
The pan under the seat was just a dished out piece. The only difference between fordor and cabriolet is the cab is wood screwed down while the fordor is riveted.

The repro under front seat pan will also need some holes drilled for drains.
