Technique To Count Most Remaining A's

I don't think any census attempt would aspire to an accurate count. But one that got a lower bound, i.e., a verified minimum number of cars still out there, could still be helpful.

I always assumed that it was probably 25% survival rate. That would put it at 1.2 million. I would like to think it was at least that many anyway!

form my very limited time owning and researching model A's- it seems like there's more on the road now and being restored.
there's a good number of youtube videos about guys finding a car that hasnt ran since before i was born, getting it to run, and then making a series on restoring.
i pray this isnt survivorship bias.

Two things:
I have kept my ears open since becoming an A owner in yr 2000, for the number of A's still existing. The number I've heard the most is around 300,000.

Second - to account for 2% of surviving 15,000,000 T's vs. 5% of surviving 5,000,000 A's, many T's were at end of life during the scrap drives of WW2, while the A's, besides being more reliable, could be considered "prime of life" in rural America.

Would be interesting to know, but there are a lot. At one time MAFFI had a registry of cars that I cannot find now. Maybe they discontinued that for privacy reasons.

I belong to MARC and MAFCA. I own 1 A. In my small town I know of 4 owned by men who belong to no clubs. Does this mean only 20% could be counted?

Most of the Model A and Model T owners that I know are not members of any national or regional organization.

Enjoy the holidays.

There are only two maybe three members of either National Model A Ford Clubs in a 40 mile radius of where I live, according to the MAFCA Membership roster,,,, and I know of at least 35-40 Model A Fords running around here!

I belonged many years ago, but wasn't really getting anything out of the National Clubs so dropped out. It came across to me as kind of a good old boy club, them and any other car club I was ever affiliated with:eek: I just grew real tired of the politics and BS and just wanted to enjoy my old cars...
