I have a problem with that number 276, 391. I actually think it is 276, 392!
Bob, you could send a letter to each state's DMV and request they search their vehicle data base for the number of registered A's they have on file. This number could provide a more accurate count as it would include both club and non club A's. Just A thought.
No matter what the number. It’s remarkable that there are so many.
Enjoy
The seemingly stock Model A's registered with many state DMV agencies may also include cars and trucks that are registered as such but are actually chopped/channeled, sporting small-block Chevy V-8s., and various other hot rod modifications. The owners probably won't want to be required to have annual emissions testing and are quite happy to have their cars grouped among the remaining stock A's that aren't so required.
A search on-line for Model A's for sale will invariably turn up all kinds of vehicles built from an "A" body but not very many other parts that were attached to the body as produced during the 1928-31 time period.
EVERY 28-31 Ford registered IS an Model A. Ford made no other cars during that time frame. No amount of modifications can erase that fact. Sure you may not like them but they are still a Model A,The seemingly stock Model A's registered with many state DMV agencies may also include cars and trucks that are registered as such but are actually chopped/channeled, sporting small-block Chevy V-8s., and various other hot rod modifications. ......
While that’s true, any serious attempt to answer this question would have to include at least some modified vehicles in the count, regardless of the method used.
It's extremely frustrating to see vehicles in advertisements and Facebook posts that are called "Model As" even though they are just Model A bodies that are heavily modified.
Much like the general public's tendency to call all old cars "classics" contrary to the CCCA's definition.
I just have to breathe deeply and try to not let it bother me so much.
Not an easy task![]()

I can't make that statement about 32 Ford Roadsters though. Yes MANY of those are built from 100% 21st century parts. This is an example I saw last Saturday. The front axle is the only "old" part on this car.
