Once I have the tank leak fixed what can i do about the old sealer in my tank do i just leave it or coat over it. I cant seem to get a firm answer on this problem....is my tank garbage, can it be re used? Do I just fix the leak and then forget about everything else Because this tank has another sealer in it and i can see rust floting around in my fuel after i fix the leak do i have it cleaned out?.....I know everyone is frustrated with me and my problem but I just want to do it right the first time. Its very confusing to me when I get 50 different answers on what to do and what not to do. Im on a tight budget and my wife is complaining about how much this is all going to cost so I want it done right the first time. Thanks for all your help and patience. Ryan

I would take the tank to a reputable radiator shop which is familiar with this type repair and actually seems interested in repairing the tank. Some shops are able to immerse the tank in a chemical bath which cleans and etches the tank and they can then
fix the leak and re-seal it with a good alcohol/ethanol proof sealer. Of course you will have to re-paint the exterior before installation. I would also consider installing an internal filter which mounts inside the tank at the fuel outlet pipe at the shut-off valve. They are available through any of the Model A parts suppliers. It will filter out rust sediment particles. Good luck.

Hey Mike, would you happen to know what kind of chemical is in the bath that cleans and etches the tank?

Also, could you happen to find out the brand name of the alcohol/ethanol proof sealer these shops are using?? Thanks for your help!!
