Talk About A Bad Day

Yup, friend bought a mild custom 50 Ford from a fellow in AZ. Truck driver let the previous owner drive it onto the carrier. The truck driver failed to ensure the car was properly tied down when he started to lift it up to the upper level. Car rolled back off the platform and landed upside down. He never did find out how the insurance fight went, just happy he got his 25K in full plus. Most unhappy he had to start the hunt all over!

Some times shippers insure items on their policy by the pound. Might be 12 cents a pound. Last few times I shipped a car (long distance, I'm not talking a local tow) I was on the telephone a bit checking on "what-if", noting who I talked to, time, date, etc.

To me, I think the shipper should bear any responsibilities while the car is in their care - period!

Of the three cars I've had shipped they were all covered by the shippers insurance. The coverage was for the sale price. Happy to say there was never an issue where I had to find out how good their insurance was!
