Tail light(s)

Steve, why did you copy me? My lawnmower is parking crossways to my car like that!

I like the looks of your front lamps better than the rears. Your point is certainly correct, though. Maybe luminescent magnetic signs on the doors that say "Patrol" with a star underneath would get attention?

Bruce,

There must be lots of us who have to squeeze our A and mower in the same spot. Snow blower is in there too.

I discovered a motorcycle sales/repair shop south of Cortland, NY that had a whole box full of busted off turn signals. They let me paw through it, and I found two sets that lent themselves to mounting on jerry-rigged flat-strap bracket--one set for mine and one for my mom's A. Two filament bulb works as running light and turn signal. Have same deal in my cowl lights, so there's little doubt when I am wanting to turn.

The Peterson light doesn't look as awful as you might think. Clearly not authentic to anyone who knows A's but I don't think it jumps out at others. I really wish someone would develop a sidelight mod for the A teacup. Mine has both the powered light and the passive high-reflective surface. Here's a few more views. Just for fun, I've included shots of me and my Ford beside my high-school years house taken 45 years apart; my college roommate and my mom do not appear to be overly impressed.

Steve

I really want to add the second tail light to mine but agree with above and want to make it "reversable" for any future purist. I have a bracket designed and Im gonna try and have it made by a local machine shop so it can be attached cross member bolts but tail light sits in the same approximate location as the driver side so it looks symetrical from the back. Probably gonna look like iffy but I'll give it a shot. I currenly run the 3rd brake light in the window but looks odd without 2nd tail.

Does anyone make a re-pop drum tail-light assembly that does NOT include a license plate bracket?

I would like to add one to my '28, but I hate the thought of spending $100 on a repro and then taking a hack-saw to it to remove the un-needed tag bracket...

For what it's worth, I converted the brake light socket in my taillights to accept a dual filament bulb - eliminating the need for extra light fixtures for turn signals. I simply use 32/32cp headlight bulbs in them.
