Tail Light questions

Is the bracket for the teacup light painted or plated?

Also, I think I remember hearing that back when Model A's were new you could have the dealer install a 2nd tail light. Anyone know anything about that?

The brackets were painted black. The right hand bracket was offered by Ford at some point, but many of the vintage ones were sold by various aftermarket parts suppliers also. All of them I have seen have a R stamped into one end. The current reproductions leave alot to be desired in my opinion, but can be made to look right with some heat, bending and alittle sanding. If I have heard correct before, I believe that when the dealer put on the right taillight, the bracket was a left hand bracket. I think ford only made a left hand bracket. They both should angle to the left when you look at the back of the car.

Ford only had right hand brackets on right hand drive cars. They never offered them here in the USA. In late '31 Ford began promoting the idea of the dealers selling customers another left hand bracket and lamp for use on the right side.
