Gentlemen;I have seen Marco' tutorial on roof replacement and it looked
like NEW tack strip on the Tudor he featured. Can the tack strip(nails actually)be salvaged? And will the metal trim actually go back on?
I would really prefer it to the hidem type trim.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, it can. I purchased an original front tack strip for my 28 special coupe. I am not sure what year your tudor is, but if it is a 28/29 and maybe a 30/31, the two piece original strip can be reused. You need to use a small screwdriver and carefully, and I mean carefully pry the upper piece from the part that has the nails in it. The top piece will look like a pretzel when you get it off. By carefully smoothing the top strip, it will become fairly straight again. Once the top piece is fairly straight, you need to carefully tap out any dents or damage to the strip. The bottom strip should be OK without any additional work required, but it should be bead or sandblasted to clean out the grooves so the top strip will seat OK when installed. It is a tedious job, but can be done and looks much better than hidem. BTW, did I mention to be very careful!

The tack strips shown on my pages are the originals from that car. Someone was a little less than careful removing them so it took a bit of work on my part to restore them. The front style strip is NOT reproduced.
