Tachometer

I have a 1950 Ford Business Coupe which is stock with the 6V electrical system. It has the 8BA flathead. I would like to buy a tachometer. I have looked on Ebay but have had no luck. Is there a vendor that sells them? RFL

Williamson's Instruments in Chester, Arkansas will build, modify or re-build an old tach to suit your needs. They do excellent work and charge a fair - not cheap- price. They have a website. Good Luck.

I brought a tach from Bert's Model A. It is small in diameter put works on 6 volts positive ground. They are located in Denver. I just thought of something. IT WAS FOR THE MODEL A.

Here's a photo of the vintage Sun "Football" tach in my '40. The sending unit was rebuilt by Williamson's Instruments, as mentioned above.

I have three 6v Tach's on my cars from Westach Westberg Mfg. Inc in Calif. Phone 707-938-2121 or 1-800-400-7024. They are small in diameter and you can get them with a bullet back housing. At one time they had an ad in the V8 Times. They can custom make them for the Model A's or the V8's. They work great.

I checked with Steve Weber of Vintage Auto Radio (vintageautoradio.com) and he believes any 12 volt tach will work on a 6 volt positive ground electrical system using their 6v power inverter ($99.00). Read the specs on the inverter and see if they fall within the power req. range of the specific 12 volt tach you want to use.
