agreed.
I had North Hollywood Speedometer make me an electric tach, registering from 0 to 3000 RPM, with a face matching the Model A's factory gauges. They used a VDO tach as a base. Paid $125 for it. Looks factory stock and is mounted on the steering column. A good speedometer shop can make you about anything exactly the way you want it.
You can also use Isspro tachs that are made for diesels (I have a 3000 RPM tach in my Cummins-powered Dodge that runs out of steam at 2,400 RPM), but you then would have to attach the magnets to the flywheel. If you still have 6 volt electrics, the picking gets really thin.
QGolden, yes I am on 12 V. Look at the spec for the model I posted, tho, not sure it matters (can't remember); it may only affect the bulb in it for nighttime backlighting...
Thx
I did look at the spec, hence the question.
That is what I am wondering, if voltage matters to a tach.
Does anyone know if the voltage rating only applies to the backlight bulb?
Seems to me they would count pulses regardless of system voltage, but they probably have an amplifier to power the needle coil, and it may be voltage specific. I just dunno', but I'll bet someone here does.
