Tachometer and Vacuum Gauge

Model T

Anyone ever put a tach on an Original T engine? Either mount it on the car or just hook it up for diagnosis? (Talking about original coils)

What about a vacuum gauge hook up?

For about $60 you can buy a Tach that reads a piece of reflective tape on any rotating element. This would be fine for diagnostic use & handy for checking machine tools etc.
A vacuum port could be drilled in the manifold if one is not already there. I have seen a plate with a port in it that would fit between the carb & manifold but I do not know if a reading there would be of much use.

Usually a T runs best when set up by someone who knows what it should sound like though. Your best information might come from looking over his shoulder.

I completely agree. T's are more like individual living creatures than exact mechanical clones of each other. They each have their own personalities and individual adjustment needs to run properly. A tach on a T engine will provide scant useful information, but if you insist, the model airplane guys have some really cool cheap optical propeller tachs that work on T fan blades if they are backlit.
