T18 to a 1948 239 F3

Nobody knows if there's a way to Bolt T18, T19 or 435 Trannies to an 8RT. Not Interested in a T5. Thanks

The standard 4-speed hogs head bell that was used on the F2 & F3 as well as others, is adaptable due to it's size but it may be narrow for the T18. The T98 was used in the Bonus years and it has similarities to the T18. I've not heard of folks using the T18 or NP435 but it is likely doable. Just about anything can be adapted if a person has the resources to fabricate adapter plates.

Many Thanks for the Replies, I didn't know if something was available to do it, the double Clutching 3 spd is not user Friendly for beating around Town. The T5 Might be the easiest option, just expensive for knocking around.

Can you find a T98? Just like the T9 crash box but synchronized. I got one from a 1950 F6. "Almost" a bolt in swap. 1948-1952 T98's are the same.

Note: Later T98's do not have the rear mount so will not be a direct fit.

Why are you having to double clutch a 3-sp? Are the synchro's shot? Or do you have the 4-sp spur gear non-synchro?

It's definitely a 3spd, just acquired Truck a Few weeks ago, will not Shift without double Clutching. 1948 F3 8RT. Other than that, it runs out Pretty well. Don't know how much Razzing I'll get but new Uni-lite just came in the mail from Speedway, will try to get some #'s off the ****** when I get it up in the Shop for the Dizzy. I'm in the Middle of rewiring my Cj7, hopefully I can get it up on Jack Stands and have a Look, Thanks

F2 and F3 pickups generally had the T8/T9 4-speed but there was a heavy duty 3-speed made in the bonus years as an option. The T98 4-speed was another option. They could also replace the light duty 3-speed in F1 pickups. The 4-speed was optional for the F1 but I've not found any with one yet. The average F2 or F3 had the crash box 4-speed.

The heavy duty 3-speed is synchonized for 2nd & high gear just like the light duty little brother. There should be no need to double clutch into 2nd or high but 1st & reverse is a different story.

At the tail end of the Y-Block era, 1964, Ford offered the 352 V8 as an option in the F series trucks. The common 4 speed behind the Y-block an 352 was the T98 in '64. In '65 and later Ford switched to the T-18 4-speed.
The '65-66 F-250 4x's could be ordered with the 352 V8 and a T-18, this application had a front motor mount and mount ears on the bellhousing, therefore it will work in earlier trucks to replace the 292 V8/T98. Lots of luck trying to find one of the '65-66 FE bellhousins... I have a '66 F250 4x that has a 390 V8, T-18 trans combo.
Of course none of the above info is of much value to accomplish the project that was originally asked about.

Got a '66 352 V8 sitting here with a bellhousing on it for a 3speed column type trans. Newc

Something must be worn out in the Transmission, if you don't double in 2nd 3rd it's God-awful sounding. Drove OTR rig for several years and could RPM match without Clutch Shifting, and this ****** can be done the same way.
