I have a t-86 transmission with overdrive. Can anyone tell if there a floor shifter that will bolt to the top of this gear box since it is a toploader. the casting # is t86f-1. Thanks in advance for any help. Jim

Check out the early Jeep shifters. They bolted to the top of the transmission and shifted from the top as well (side forks eliminated).

Thanks for the info. I had seen an article on a jeep shifter to go on a 4 speed toploader but did not know about a 3 speed. Jim

There is no top shifter conversion available for the T-86 that I know of. However, a Ford 3030 full syncro 3 speed will accept a '70's Jeep top shift cover and handle. Jeep used Ford transmissions in the late '70's and cast the top shifter pieces. The overdrive kicker is that Ford didn't make a full syncro 9 bolt cover 3 speed trans. The good news is if you look hard enough you can find an over drive trans mission for a '75-'77 AMC Pacer, Gremlin, or Hornet that used the ford trans and then had a Laycock-Denormanville (nowadays Gearvendor) electric overdrive from England attached to the back. I am running this very setup in my '32 roadster behind a 354 hemi with no problems and very smooth shifts. The trans missions are rare but can be found. since the trans is Ford and the O/D is Gearvendors, parts are easy to get, just hope you never break the output shaft or the adapter, those don't exist any more
