T-5 Transmission

Has anyone hooked up the early T-5 transmission to the late ford 8ba flathead? I was given a transmission that appears in excellent shape and am thinking about using it behind the flathead in my '41 pickup. Just wondering how complicated it is to do and if the swap is expensive. I'm guessing it might improve my mileage quite a bit. If I were to do this could I keep the banjo rearend or would it be best to go to an 8" or 9" ford rearend?
Thanks,
Silver

Hello I have a T5 behind my 52 in a model A frame. The Bronco rear end is geared at 4.11 and the T5 is about the same in first gear. I am removing the 4.11 and installing a 38 ford. Speedway motors has a open drive shaft conversion. First gear is just to low on the T5 with a low ratio rear end. Just my opinion. Also ajohn has a 49 P U truck. and He skips 1th and uses second to take off.He was looking for a higher geared rear end. I think I am going to like the T 5 with the Banjo rear end.Going to look better from the back under this high boy 29 roadster.

I used a mid 80's Camaro with an S-10 tailshaft and hsg. It has a 2.97 first gear, I converted my banjo to an open drive shaft and put 3:54 gears in it. It idles at 70 mph on the freeway.

Put a T5 in my 30 Tudor with a banger. Could cruise at 70mph with it slightly modified. Great set up.
