Thanks for suggestions. Took it apart and removed a very worn out pin which no local parts stores had. So I went to my local mechanic who gave me a pin of the same diameter. After a hacksaw cut and a little grinding my f-100 was shifting like a champ! Has anyone ever gone with a complete rebuild kit((lever, spring, pin, etc) and if so does it make areally big difference? Just wondering about "down the road":)

On a badly worn shift level where the pin fits, I have gas welded the slot and filed it smooth. With a new pin, that really took up a lot of play. Clean it, put in a dab of light grease, and they seem to last a long time.
