Switch for lights and horn - options/ideas/suggestions

Hi Folks,

Long time lurker, first time poster. Usually I can find what I am looking for with the search, but no luck this time.

I've just inherited my 2nd Model A, a 1931 Closed Cab Pickup. This one is much different from my early 1928 Phaeton in that its very not stock (model B engine, headers, downdraft carb, custom paint color and interior, etc). It was "restored" in the late 1980's and was running up until around 2010. Previous to the 1980's restoration I think it might have been a hot rod as it has many extra holes in the firewall that were never there originally.

In my quest to get it running again, rewiring the rats nest of old cloth wire connected with tape and wire nuts to newer rubber insulated wire that was cracking and falling off became a major to-do along with all the other items on the get it running again list.

I've got the engine and dash wiring all done and its working and the engine runs, but I still need to do the lights, horn, wiper motor, etc. Previously someone installed an F100 steering box, but it was not modified for Model A use and does not have the switch rod running through it, or the ability to put the model a light switch on the bottom of the steering box. Because of this the normal light switch isn't possible and I'm looking for some ideas on what to do.

The previous owner had a small switch panel under the dash attached to the left kick panel for the lights and wiper motor, and a push button switch on the floor for the horn. Is that the best solution in a situation light this? I lack the skills, tools and shop space to modify the box myself and the budget doesn't support getting one of Randy Gross' modified steering boxes right now.

If anyone else has been in a similar situation, what did you do? I'd love to see some examples or ideas on what to do for this situation.

Thanks in advance,
Brian
