Hey folks,
I recently posted a want ad about a bellhousing. One of the responses I got gave me a couple reasons to be suspicous. the individual was a junior member with no posting history. The individual said they couldn't upload pics but to email them directly. Over the course of a few emails the individual repeated avoided giving me their name and when I asked about their project car(s) they wouldn't tell me what they were working on. They said I could send the money to their kid's paylal. I ended up passing on it due to scitchy vibes.

Then yesterday I posed another wanted ad and the same individual replied with the exact same wording in the message about the photos and sending them an email. The only difference was the name of the car part.

I don't want to mention their name incase this is just really a big coincidence, but here is the wording of the messages incase any of you have also recieved it.

Tell them that you will only pay with REGULAR PayPal even to their kids acc. PayPal will reimburse you if you don’t receive the parts. It’s too easy.

100% scammer. Please mention his name so others don't fall for these type of ridiculous tactics.

If someone can't send photos or have money sent to their own PayPal account, they are either in prison or a scammer. Take your pick.

misterpayman pm'd also me last week regarding my wanted ad. Same story about his inability to post pictures....

A scammer for sure.

Allway offer to come and see the parts in person or have someone lay eyes on them for you. . Then google the adress if they even give you one. Most scamers wont even get back to you. Tim

Just had an interest in some parts listed on another site. Scammer sends email with instructions that a check will be sent and his agent will pick up the parts. I said I am an ICE agent living in Mexico so not possible for parts pick up. I then said I now have your IP address so watch your back!!

100% scammer. DO NOT buy anything from this person.

I ran a want ad on the V-8 Club website looking for Spyder hub caps. Got three answers and the first two were obviously scammers. The third one looked promising and I got photos. The guy lived in Rapid City So. Dakota( or said he did). I sent a couple more e-mails about the condition. Answers sounded good. So I told him I had a friend that was a police officer in Rapid City and I would send him by to look at them. All I would need is his address.
Interesting how fast the e-mails stopped.

I was selling a truck and the "potential buyer" smelled a bit fishy. I told him that we needed to have the sale notarized and that a gal in the office where my wife worked would do that for us. I then said that she worked at the local Police Station.
I never heard back from them.
Sad that we have to de so cautious... Chap

I have never scammed anyone in my life, but I would be put off by the direct mention of police involvement. But I guess these days, "you gotta do what you gotta do".

I would welcome having your police friend come by to pick up any parts I have for sale. Saves me from wrapping and shipping the parts.
