Survey. How many out there ...

... sleep with a light on?????

I love surveys. Over on the HAMB, it gives so many people a chance to post when they would otherwise simply lurk. I've long been an advocate for shy people ... being incredibly shy myself.

So, these surveys are great, and there are a number that I'm anxious to start.

Sleeping with a light on ... If a light sleeper sleeps lighter with a light on, will a hard sleeper sleep harder with a blanket on?

Speaking of sleeping and another great survey. How many sleep late and how many are members of the "Dawn Patrol" like I am? I'm usually up at 3:30-4:00 drinking coffee and checking stuff out on the internet. BUT, I notice very few people are posting on the forums at that time. Unfortunately, that's the time of day when I make the most typos.

One memorable survey over on the HAMB was/is "What kind of car did you come home from the hospital in when you were born?"

It beats all the "What kind of oil do you use" threads. I think I came home on the streetcar ... by myself, if I remember correctly. After crawling out of that bag in the creek.

Another survey that I would like to see, with all the flatheads around, how does everyone set up their distributors? Do folks do them themselves? How? Do they take them to the club expert or some other "old timer" ... ("old timer", get it?) Or, do they send them off to guys with names like Bubba or Skip?

We had this discussion at lunch yesterday about how in our town of a million people nobody is running around desperate to have their distributor set up. There seems to be much more concern for carburetor rebuilds.

Maybe there are a a lot of guys setting points with their feeler gauges and because of all the talk about strobers they are ashamed to admit it. (Ken, CT, is not ashamed though.)

Anyhow, I do enjoy some of the surveys. Lots yet to be done.

"Do you or don't you have seat covers on your car?" Those braided plastic ones?

"Show me your steering wheel spinner/suicide/necking knobs with girly pictures in them."

"Who all has had their mother catch them with their girlfriend's bare footprints on the inside of the windshield?"

Here's a good one. "How many of you are aware that most boxes of plastic wrap or aluminum foil have little punch ins to keep the dang roll from falling out? .... "

Hoop, Lay off the coffee.
PS I was lucky enough to come home in a 36 coupe but mom sold it.

What hospital They had no hospital in my town & I did not have to go anywhere as I was born in mom & dads house. Same thing for my 3 brothers, Depression days ~~Walts37~~

OMG!

Hoop, do you know how much OPs thunder you stole? I was looking forward to such surveys.

Braided plastic covers?? Sleeping with the lights on?? Girlfriends footprints??? Must'a been reading somebody's bio (name withheld to protect him - he's married!)

Okay, lights off when who you're with cost ya less than $20.... And they weren't HER footprints, they were mine. . .

I still have marks on my backside from those braided seatcovers  maybe it was the console.

Thanks pal! :D

I lost a perfectly good headliner out of a 53 Ford Hardtop in 1965 that way.

Light off, So the dogs lie down. and the ride home was more then likely the truck in my avatar being my dad bought it 5 years before I was produced, Is that why I still need a headliner in the truck

Nice to see a couple of us awake for the Dawn Patrol ... Saturday morning is for estate sales, and it's been a slow one. Found some collectible VW parts that I did not buy. I am getting stronger.

Anyhow, it is interesting what guys comment on from my original post. Seems most have been about being born or about kanoodling in cars.

Nothing about flathead distributors ... hmmmm. Probably right. There's a limit to how much you talk about distributors, but kanoodling? .... seems folks never lose interest.

Reminds me of a story about this old gentleman in the retirement home. One of the older lady residents comes up to him and says, "I'll bet I can tell you how old you are."

He says, "I'll bet you can't."

She slips her hand down inside the front of his pants and after about five minutes of feeling around, she says, "You're 91 years old."

He says, "Amazing. Just how did you do that?"

She smiled back, "You told me yesterday."

I was brought home in an early Ford ! That's the only cars we owned back then until I was about 5 years old then we got a 55 Olds Rocket 88 , then a 56 Buick Special in 1961 , then a 1960 Caddy coupe deville in 1964 . My Dad always wanted a 1960 Caddy !
My sisters came home in a 50s Ford .
As for the lights , OFF ! What the hell is with the night lights ? I also thought they were for little children ?

When I actually had a running flathead, feeler gauge except the Malory RevPol, which needed a distributor machine and I didn't have one.

No footprints.

Came home in a '37 Ford Tudor.
