Suppliers

My scanner doesn't work, or I could scan it and email it to you or post the pages here. My catalog is also about 10 years old.

In the beginning I used most of all the vendors. After a while I noticed myself purchasing more from macs every time they sent me a 15% off coupon. 3 days ago I was just about to complete another order with macs and my 10% off coupon when I saw the $29.99 extra for shipping. Thinking that was a little high I decided to compare costs with the next closest vendor to me. So long story short, purchasing through Mikes not only saved me $10 but I got so much more for my money. So I'll be sticking with Mikes.

At Mike's you can save 5% on most items, when you place an order of $150.00 or more from their Online Store.

I think Snyders charges actual shipping depending how you want it sent.

Email Sandy Smotrilla at Snyders. She will give you shipping options.

Not to change the subject but have ya'll seen Bratton's new Web sire? Looks nice and seems to be easier to use... so far.

Bratton's Antique Auto

Wow. I just checked out the new site and it is much improved.I love the assembly diagrams. Brattons used to have the worst search engine among the A vendors, but the new one seems much improved.

I find myself buying from Brattons most often. With my credit card on file with them it is close to Amazon "one click" shopping on a model A vender's site.

My only advice is to stay away from Howell's. Their customer service is bad, at best. I placed an order almost a month ago and still haven't received anything. One part was back-ordered so they didn't ship the other 2 parts that were in stock that I ordered. After several calls and leaving voice messages, I finally got someone to pick up the phone. I got them to ship the parts that were in stock and the man gave me a tracking number through UPS that I found out isn't even loaded. So now I'm trying to get them to pick up the phone again and find out where my parts are. It's frustrating to say the least.

Howell's has a bad, and increasingly worse, reputation for service all over the 'net-esp. here and on the HAMB. Sometime, though, they're the only game in town. They seem to be the origin of the plan to only by from dealers and not the mfg. A dealer will tell you what is in stock and will ship it too you.

Speaking of bumpers, has anyone had experience with the Stainless Steel Bumpers that are available from various vendors? Are they made of "Good S/S" not the stuff they make BBQ's out of that rust (low nickel content) I live near the Ocean and the salt air is hell on chrome (and brass).

I've had a SS front bumper on my '31 for about 10+ years. Got it from mac's back when they'd deliver free to car shows (saved enough there to upgrade from chrome). It has held up great, but it's been long enough that Mac's has been bought out by Eckler's, no longer has free to show delivery and may have changed quality.

I have never regretted stainless as I figured the first chrome pit I saw on my PA based car, would be the day from ever after that I bemoaned not getting stainless. So far, so good.

I called in to claim that discount but I was told it has to be $150 or more of regular priced items. I purchased a few items that were Super Saver kits so I didn't qualify. Either way I still got about $60 more worth of stuff than if I had stuck with macs so I'm a happy camper.

Never had bad service from any vendor I have dealt with. I try to buy from a Canadian source to save the ludicrous charges from the various shipping companies. (USPS excepted)

My favourite vendor by far is George Moir of Stoney Plain, Alberta. I can drive there in 45 minutes and Dwayne and Terry really know their stuff.
