subrail extention removal

I am having a little difficulty in removing the cracked, broken and rusty sub-rail extensions from my 1930 coupe. I have very carefully removed all the rivets that I can see and there is still something holding them in place. Are they spot welded to the sheet metal of the cowl? How about at the back of the extension near the door pillar? How are they attached there? I know this is not an ordinary question, so i appreciate any help I can get.

spot welds to the firewall as well as spot welds to the bottom piece of the subrail extension
