submerged up to the plugs

this 69 firebird convertible was towed to my shop from atlantic city area. it was in his garage look closely at the water line down the side of the car. the under carriage was corroding badly after a few days and the insurance co wasn't even interested in looking at it. they totaled it and gave the owner the agreed value no questions asked. he wanted to buy it back but the corrosion was to severe.

Spray some black paint on the undercarrige, dry the rugs and give it a good detail and somebody's going to end up stuck with it. Not by Mitch though, I mean someone with no integrity. Going to be a bunch of cars like that for sale I'll bet, new, used and classics. JMO

Thousands of cars where saddled with "Katrina titles" after Katrina hit the gulf coast in 05. Cars that were under salt water for over a week I have seen get full restorations that look and drive fine. However the number one problem I've seen with the ones that go through the auctions are not rust but electrical. Regardless of your decision to restore it or not. It will be given the recon title and will never be that of its former value. That being said, many cars that never even got wet also received Katrina titles and while they are perfect cars they will never be valued as such.

Cars, after your insurance settlement, maybe it is time to find a chop shop (I know dirty words) based on all that is being said here maybe that is where the body should end up. But depending on what you want out of your Model A, with a lot of effort and expense you could bring it back to at least a good driver.
