'47 w/ regular dual intake, 2x 94's offy heads, Mallory dual point, mild cam, Skip's coil. Ran well last year except once in a while stalls when braking to a stop. Same thing this year but now worse, runs well down the road, idles well but stalls just after coming to a stop. Starts up again O.K. Runs at about 195deg all day. 1/2 tank of fresh gas added, old from last fall. Gummy carbs? what about snake oil Marvel Mystery Oil? Anyone use it to help? No vapor lock that I can tell. Any suggestions? Floats gummy? I hate to pull carbs again if I don't need to.

Turn the Idol up and see it that stops the problem ,If so you have a carb problem ,Flooding ,float level .= blue smoke .or lean condition ,something wrong in the idol circuits .Check colour of the spark of the plug wire .Ted

Was about 78 outside that day in mid michigan, engine was running at 195deg as usual. I turned idle up last time thinking it would help, it didn't. Stalls when coming to a stop almost every time. Newer Walker radiator w/ electric fan. Could both floats be low? I didn't have this problem last season. I would think if vapor lock, it would show at idle? Would a questionable battery give symptoms like this for weak spark?

Sounds like it could be floats. Not 100% sure. Stalls every time lends me to believe it is though.

My guess would be floats but not low level but too high & flooding. How much fuel pressure?

I question the ingnition. Skip does excellent stock coils. Your running a Mallory. Maybe ask Mallory ingnition what coil is best?

Or ask bubba. You need the right resistance to make it all work. Or your going to burn it up. Sound familiar?

Two products that cross years of tractors, hit miss, and flatheads. Kroll and mmo. Maybe atf and diesel too.
