Stuck Starter Rod

Hi guys. I've got the "clutch clunk" when engaging my clutch. I greased the throwout bearing fitting, but still there. There's a thread about pulling the starter and re-seating a ring and checking the started bolt length but I have a problem. I CAN'T GET MY STARTER ROD UNSCREWED. I tried a torch, penetrating fluid, and good old fashioned elbow grease. Any suggestions? It's a 1929 Model A Tudor. Standard starter and starter rod. Thanks in advance

could remove the 4 screws that hold the switch on the starter. or it should just unscrew holding rod with pliers etc and wrench for other part.?

I think we are forgetting that this part may have been subjected to 93 years of rust. A new starter rod is very cheap. If it gives you any trouble, cut it off. Then with better access and a vice, use heat and a pipe wrench to get the small piece left on the start switch off. Spend your time on more important things. Ed

I know its two days late, but I third on what the other suggestions, cut it off and put a new switch and rod in. I replaced my rod recently and put the new rubber caps on the button face. I love it, definitely worth the money imo

Did you remove the rod or cut it??? if using a torch did you hit it with some windex after heating?
