Stuck Spark Plugs

Have a '65 200 cu. in. six that had been stored for 30 years.
In trying to bring the engine back to life I want to pull the plugs
and squirt oil into the cylinders prior to powering up.
The plugs seem to be stuck...can I try using an impact wrench?
Yes, the engine is 'free'.

I would try copious amounts of penetrating oil and tapping on them lightly for a few days, then try using a breaker bar to get 'em started out. You don't want to pull the threads out of the head. If your impact is the adjustable torque variety try it on its lowest setting after the penetrating oil soak. If you break a few plugs you were going to replace 'em anyway, right?

I do not believe penetrating oil will work...remember, there is a copper gasket between the head and the plug body. I'll try an impact wrench on low setting,
then apply penetrating oil once the plug rotates loose a bit.

Penetrating oil is supposed to seep between the metal parts so don't just dismiss the idea of using it and letting it set. I would definitely spray them up and leave them a while. I also wouldn't hesitate to take an impact to it.

When the plugs get out, I would remove the rocker cover and turn the engine to make sure the valves all close.

Yep...I forgot about the taper seats on those plugs. Thanks guys! I will try Liquid Wrench, let soak and then impact wrench.

If you've got misc flammable chemicals hanging around I've heard that auto trans fluid mixed with acetone works good too, but I forgot the proportions.

trying to tighten then loosen repeat sounds strange to try tightening first.worked for me many times just do not rush

Heat them up. With a torch. Get them good and hot, and quickly enough so the head isn't heated along with the plug. THEY WILL COME LOOSE.

After heating up the plugs, then let the plugs cool first and they will come out easier. No need to heat the plugs up to color, just up to mighty hot.
