Spending hrs scraping off alum side of manifold gasket,is there anything i can spray or brush on to keep this from happening again. I installed this about 3 yrs ago with nothing on it,dry both sides, came off the block but stuck bad,bad to the manifold.Or a diff composition one, this came from the Famous "MAC'S". Never had this happen before,im realy PO'd about it. I have a new one to put on from them but am hesitent to do so. Maybe one in a fel-pro brand?? thanks for any solutions to this. ken ct help:(:(:confused:

Hi Ken, I use Fel-Pro gaskets:) and usually don't apply any thing to the intake manifold gasket. You could use a dab of weather strip cement or try some Indian Head shellac. That will hold the gasket and should not stick to the block or intake.

Vic ,i dont put anything on them either, but for some reason this one stuck to the manifold. You realy dont need to glue anything as there are 2 dowels to hold it in place. I'll see if napa has one in stock. i can wait as were leaving for Charlotte sunday, they will hold it for me if it comes in after we leave. thanks Vic.

Only thing I ever used on intake to be able to reuse if necessary was plain old chassis grease both sides, also thought it would position better while tightening down to eliminate a vacuum leak. Worked for me.
