Stuck brake drum

Long story short:
- Car sat for 30 years.
- Right wheel locked up. Tried pulling brake drum/hub using heavy duty puller - no go.
- Dropped entire rear end assembly. Left side came apart no problem.
- Axle is out (anyone know how I can figure out what gears are in this ?)
- Right break adjuster is about shot - almost completely rounded - moves about 1/4 inch each way when I can get a vise grip tight enough. Been soaking the whole thing by spraying in MMO daily (has become my morning ritual :).

I have not resorted to using heat yet because, if possible I'd like to try and reuse the brake drum (plus a little worried it will light up with all of the MMO now).
Been spraying and smacking it with a rubber mallet for 2 months now - no progress. Suggestions ?

count the ring gear teeth and pinion teeth then divide.....

if the drum wont turm most likely the brakes are rusted to it...
options are some heat and a BFH or submerge the whole drum in evaporust...

You did not mention the year of your A ?

9 teeth on the pinion and 34 teeth on the ring gear = 3.78 (Most Passenger Cars)
10 teeth on the pinion and 37 teeth on the ring gear = 3.70 (1928)

If you still have the original Speedometer Drive Gear on the drive shaft it may be marked "9-34" or "10-37".

Rubber mallet ain't going to get it! Install puller and hit drum with a big hammer :-)
Plastic dead blow if your worried about damage. Leave pressure on drum with puller try again in a few days heat on hub where axle lives would not hurt IMO

forget rubber mallet and plastic hammer. Toys.

you gonna need an O/A torch or else you WILL break something.

heat hub/drum evenly to 600* (blue). If done evenly will not harm them

tap/bang all around to release rust; this will also free up adjuster to back it off (CCW)

I am kicking myself ! Biggest obstacle with this hub was that I could not get the brake adjuster to freed up. I was actually rounding the knob on the end. I could get about 1/4" inch turn on it but nothing more.
I tried heating the drum yesterday but unfortunately that wouldn't help. As I stood back frustrated I was thinking other options , like maybe drilling out the adjuster. Then I remembered I had a set of "easy outs", tapped one on to the adjuster, grabbed a breaker bar and socket and after a couple of good pulls it free up and the hub just about fell off on it's own.
You live and learn - I spent a month trying not to ruin the $7.00 piece (brake adjuster). A sense of accomplishment, but frustrated I didn't think of this a month ago.
On to rebuilding the brakes !

heh i had a stuck one on a 29AA worm drive rearend, someone somehow turned the adjuster all the way in and the brake shoe pins fell behind the cone. There wasn't enough room to screw it in all the way either... Permanently stuck on brakes so out came the 3 jaw puller, 6 ft cheater pipe and a sledge hammer...
