Well, by then the 97 was dying out as OEM...the new manifolds were for the Ford carbs, I believe, but maybe they altered the last '39 Strombergs for this?? At any rate, my belief that these were 1950's aftermarket is blown away! And Ford continued to supply Stromberg repair parts for a long time, of course, but stopped selling complete ones early on. A new carb would have gotten you a Ford carb to replace the Stromberg.

I'm pretty sure that the bat-arrow-v bases with NO third squirters were available on Southbend 97's and some LZ's, early on.
The third squirter, notched venturi, EE1-1 replacements called the Elmira foundry home into the 50's. Sound OK?
*** Just unpacked an NOS Southbend LZ with smooth bore V base.
Came with .046 mains and # 60 powervalve and NO built-in checkvalve in accelerator pump - not to be confused with standard checkvalve. First time it's seen daylight in many moons. ***

Yes...though all of my spiritual foundations have been destroyed by noticing those things in the bulletins...I still cling to the belief that the extra tubes sre from the fifties. Clearly the arrow base showed up by 1940, presumably by 1938 since Ford would have had no interest in Stromberg developments after then!
Everything was once so clear...
