Literally-The large one will have a number large "97" cast into a circular pad on one side of the body. If you have a large 97 you can mistake it. Look at any of the number of hot rod books for a visual or under images using Google.

A smaller version (which is the correct Ford version) will have a smaller, not so raised number 97. Sometimes the smaller 97 number will also have a 62? next to it?

There are some replacements made in NY that have no number on it. They way to tell what it is is the fraction on the body.

Hard to say, others will chime in. I would say, despite it being NOS, that it is still a core. I would go through it before using it. Old gaskets would be dry, insects could have crawled in, died or packed in mud, blocking jets, idle passages, etc. How's the finish? Any rust?

If the base/linkages are rusty and the die cast body corroded or pitted due to moisture/weather exposure, it would be a $50-$125 core. To me, if it looks like a typical used core, then that's what its value would be.
