Stripped Screw 94 Carb

39 STD

I have a good working Holley/Ford 94, Model 59. But one of the 5, 10-32 screws that hold the top to the body is stripped. It's the one in front by the fuel inlet. What's a good repair? I was thinking, tap out to 5mm or 12-24. Or maybe JB Weld then tap back to 10-32. What's a home grown fix for this?
It'll never be judged, I just want a good seal.

Tap it to 12x24 use 5/8 long filister head slot screws. What i would do is tap the one on the opposite sideto that one and it wont look so odd. The head on a 12x24 is slightly larger than a 10x32. I'll send you the screws if you cant find them. ken ct PM or email igadore@sbcglobal.net It is a odd size screw.

Well I don't know about the jb weld business. But tapping it out to the next size up is one way of doing it... Or you could drill and tap for a 10/32 heli coil and put a 10/32 back in it. That is probably the rought I would take.
Good luck with it which ever way you decide to go with it.

Thanks Ken, It's the one right out in front, all by it's self so he won't look that odd. I'll contact you if I can't find one local.

Oh then you only need to do that one.I have all SS ones. That style head with slot is hard to find.If the head is no problem, try a West Marine store. They have all course thread screws in SS. 12x24 is a NCT screw.Filister head is hard to find. ken ct.
