Stripped Battery Hold Down Bracket Stud

I apparently have stripped the top thread on one bracket hold down stud post.
Haven’t been able to find a picture showing whether the stud base is welded, or held at the base with a nut. Seems like it should be a nut as the replacement studs are threaded at both ends. Floorboard is out so if I need to twist the stud out it is easily reached. Good ol vise grip. Hoffman

The original brackets were constructed with two "attached" studs which included an annular shoulder part for the top-side of the bracket, and a nut to hold them in place. My loose bracket of this sort shows the stud in place, possibly as a result of being "pressed" into place - the nut only serves to keep it there. Or the shoulder/stud may be simply "rusted in place" on mine.

Replacement brackets are shown with the double ended stud as Bruce shows above. No swelling of the stud but rather it gets pinched in place on the bracket by nuts on either side.

I don't have my JS book on hand. Ford may have started with the annular shoulder and later switched to the nut on either side in manufacturing expedience.

Yes. One stud is pressed in, the opposite is screwed in with a nut on the under side. 12 volt Rural King battery is 8 3/4 by 6 3/4 and fits nicely in the standard Model A tray. The other problem is the battery top bracket is way off in sides. Fellow I bought from did some shade tree work around. Thinking now about using a battery box that will fit inside the tray and just drill/bolt to the tray bottom.
