Yes, I did notice the spoked timing gear. At first I thought you had posted a picture of a Studebaker timing gear. This is the first Model A gear I've seen made this way. If the teeth are good I'd go with it. Be sure the steel gear on the crank has smooth teeth with no rust pits or wear grooves.
