Hi Guy's,

Was Parked looking out at the Ocean last Sunday when a Model A went by...I thought the Coupe looked familare...For you Harbor Marc guy's it was "Poka Joe"...

I turned around and followed Joe for alittle way's till I got to my turn and went home..I noticed at a stop light those amber stop light's weren't that bright. Kinda hard to see in the daylight !!.

I was thinking is the red lenze better ? Maybe brighter bulb's ? Does anybody know why Ford used those amber lenze's for the 2 year's. then went back to red in 32 ?

I was also thinking the A almost need's one of those third brake light's... BTW I didn't honk at Joe since I only met him once and didn't think he'd remember me driving my modern car.

Greg out West,

Hi, guys and gals,
I think the red lenses are better. And yes, you should have two stop lights.
It seems like the amber lenses are sort of washed out.
If you get halogen bulbs for the stop light sockets you should run a larger wire from the stop light switch to the tail lights for the stop lights, or at least to the left stop light and just use the original size wire to go from there to the right stop light.
I have done that several times on model A Fords and early V8 Fords.
A third stop light is not a bad idea either, it could keep you from being rear ended. I hate it when that happens.

Can't be too safe when dealing with stoplights and turn signals if you drive in much traffic. I tried to find lights that were somewhat period pieces. All the rear light bulbs are halogen. Even with all the lights I still check the mirror frequently when stopping or turning. Didn't really want that big stop light mounted so high up but the idjits need all the warning I can give them and it seems thats where the 3rd brake lights are mounted on the modern cars.

after installing led lights in my '31 when they came out, a lot of people behind me would comment on them. most of those same people then installed them in their vehicles. I added a led 3rd stoplight in my rear window....same thing happened. safety safety safety

I have a modified standard '31 Tudor that I drive a LOT. I have added the right tail light and have a third brake light behind the rear mounted spare showing through the spokes. I just didn't like the one that goes in the back window. I have also kept my amber lenses but if you think they are too pale might try amber bulbs.
One thing you can do to help is to paint the inside of the light housing white. I didn't think it would make much difference so I did mine one at a time and it does make a big difference.

If you are going to drive much in S. Calif. traffic, I sure recommend having the second tail/stop light on the right and also the latest LED lights. I have them, they are all red and are so bright that at night I can see the red reflection in the windshield of the car behind me when I am stopped with foot on the brake. They look slightly different than stock, but I think safety trumps that, at least in my case..............

I have always been a believer in RED stop lights and TWO tail lights, to help the goobers behind me in traffic figure out what I'm doing.

in French Lick we saw lots of As with LED tail lights and I'm sold on them. it's now on my to-do list for both cars.

my favorite was the LED light with an amber brake lens that glowed RED when the light came on. that 's the one I want!
