Stoneguards

Know what you mean, Earle.

I had one of my rads recored (10 fin per inch) an noticed how easily the fins bent with just a little finger pressure.

I now run an original (6 fin) and the fins seem much sturdier.

Please add me to the list of NO stoneguards, NO White Walls, life to too short to be cleaning that stuff.

Dad has a stone guard on his roadster and mine is naked. When I took mine off I was much happier, but Dad rolled his eyes and shook his head. He said when he was young and poor he always wanted one. Ron

I always have my stone guard on.....never know what kind of mood the wife is going to be in:rolleyes:

Dusty, Better hope she doesn't get a permit to carry a "hidden" slingshot!! By the way, are you still in "THE DOGHOUSE?" Bill W.

I guess I can understand the 'why' of stoneguards especially on a road with loose rocks, but I still like the look beter w/o them. I yanked the one off of the '28 as soon as I could. It had been on long enough where the rad. shell brightwork was starting to suffer. I was able to rub it back to 'shiny'.

Bill's Ghost, where did you go?? Give up the Ghost??
Damn Ghost won't give it up, hangin' around causing havoc:eek: Gives me someone other than the dog to talk to, but I talk NICE to the dog.:)
"They" say you can't teach an old dog new tricks:D, but you all have convinced me to put a stoneguard on Vermin, my '29! There's some minute dings in the top that were not straightened well by the plater and a guard would hide them.---Bill W.

Here's a picture of the guard I described in an earlier post

denis4x4,
Your car [#3] look's great with that stone guard ;), With a car like that I would have one on it also.
Is your car a copy of an org. race car, or did you make it up yourself ?
A very nice looking car .
Is their a name for a car in that configeration ? ;).

It is a Zipper lakester built 12 years ago with 1931 Model A running gear. The drive shaft was shortened 12" and the front to rear weight ratio is 50/50. The engine has a BF super head (7:1), dual strombergs, crower cam, counterweight crank, inserts, everything balanced, FS ignition, V8 clutch/flywheel, quarter elliptic suspension with Friction shocks and a '39 transmission with Zephyr gears. Steering is a Schroeder sprint car set up. Fast and fun! Thanks for asking.
