Guys what is the stock tire size for a 49 f1 pickup? Not looking for width mostly need a overall tire height. Thanks. Luke

Im assuming that the 6.00 and 6.50 is the width. I really only want the height. Im changing the rims but don't want to mess up the speedometer too badly. And the rims and tires on the truck right now are not at all stock sizes. ????

6.00-16 are 28.58 inches in diameter (corker)
6.50-16 are 29.10 inches in diameter (corker)

The Green Book has speedometer gear recommendations for varies gearing and tire sizes.

Without having to look anything up, you can treat a classic tyre as being 100% aspect ratio. So the width quoted can be treated as the height.

So just say twice the width plus the diameter of the rim = the overall diameter.

6.00:16: 2x 6 =12. 12+ 16 = 28. Call it 28 inches diameter.
6.50:16: 2 x 6.5 = 13. 13+ 16 = 29

And so on. 7.00: 16. Call it 30" diameter.
7.50:16 call it 31.

It's close enough for any calcs regarding revs at whatever speed you are travelling at and stuff like that.

Mart.

Don't know what your plans are, but if you're looking for a radial equiv I've been running LT 215/85/16's by Avon. They make an 8 or 10 ply rating tire and the sidewalls are stiff enough that it's pretty close in looks to the original.

Someone at one time put some big lugged tires with like a trailor rim on the truck. Don't want the big lug look, so im putting Bassett 15" rims on but wanted to figure out what the original height was so my new tires would get the speedo in the ballpark of a correct speed.
