Hav'nt posted in a while, shot my epoxy and fill primer and working on the motor and chassis now. After flushing the radiator and soldering up a pin hole or two I pulled the water pump to install a new leakless. Got the pulley and fan off the old water pump with a bit of heat, a chunk of walnut and a hammer. Now Im replacing the cracked crankshaft pulley with a 2 piece. Looks like Im gonna need a 1 3/8 socket to do this job. Do I have to jack the motor up?

I don't know what I am the most jealous of. The nice truck or all the space you have to work on it. Good Luck.

A few more pics close up :)

I beleive he has the best of both worlds, A nice looking project and lots of room to work. I have to work outside, no garage. Make sure the fan blades are in good shape. I just drove home with a one bladed fan. Very slowly, One side broke off at 40 mph put a dent in the hood. I thought the motor blowup. Keep the pictures coming.

Ive got a 4 blade, it was cracked on two blades near rivets but Im a pro with a wire feed LOL. Do I need to jack the motor up to pull the crankshaft pulley?

Tom,

Yes, to get the one piece pully off:
Make sure you take out the rear motor mount bolts that screw into the bell housing (there are 2 each side and should be safety wired together)before you jack up the front of the motor or you could crack the bell housing. Also, some of the 2 piece pulley's are a little too short for the crank bolt to tighten against the nose. I used a washer of the same diameter as the crank bolt threads to make up the difference
See you Monday !

If you're putting on a 2 piece pulley, just break off the outer part of old pulley with a large drift & a hammer & it's off quick. Chief said, "The easiest way is the best way, if it does the job properly!"
Read about Winfield, when installing his harmonic dampener pulley, would break off the old pulley this way & have you runnin' in a few minutes!! Bill W.

Depending on how much the front of the engine is lifted, you may need to remove the throttle cross linkage also, or it may be damaged.

I happen to have a one piece pulley from Mac's. Looking back on threads, it looks like I would be better off using IT. So, jack up the motor it is..........

Bob,
Gregg wanted to straighten up my garage, I told him that then I couldn't find anything. Then he quizzed about this & that's locations and I amazed him!:D I have him convince that I have a "142" I.Q!:cool:We both know where the paper is with my score, but we are both afraid to dig it out & look at it! 114 is considered Genius, or Near Genius!:D Bill W.
