Still draws a crowd

Stopped by the local cruise night and the old '31 drew a crowd amongst all the Chevelles, Camaro's, and Mustangs. :D

Not to diminish your car one bit, but I think the fact that your car was most likely the only one more then 15 years old had a lot to do with it if your cruise nights are anything like ours.

Not really, there was a '31 Chrysler (that was beautiful), my friends 1922 Buick, and a bunch of '32-'34 hot rods there but there were a bunch of people who stopped by and admired the stock '31 Ford. We are making a comeback in interest because unmolested model A's are gaining attention.

I've been seeing this same thing in Illinois. People seem to really appreciate original, unmolested Model T's-Model A's- early V-8 Fords. Especially teenagers.

You can only see so many Mustangs, Camaros, purple and pink street rods etc. face it that gets a bit boring.

Same thing in Michigan. It always surprises me to see people climbing over cars worth thousands more to look at our 26T and 29A on cruise night.

I work nights so getting to cruise nights are near impossible. Glad to hear things seem to be changing. A few years ago when I went to a few, aall I was seeing were new or the street rods.

As for "especially teenagers" invite them for a test drive. You may snag a few for the future of the hobby.

Our summer cruise night is on Wednesday. Since our club is an AACA affiliate, only about half of the cars are Model As. However, since the Corvette club and the Street Rod club cruise on other nights, we have a pretty balanced cruise.

Cool car. Our local show has an older restored 29 Coupe. We have two clubs that dominate each and every show. Kind of hard to compete with over 100 Mustangs and Vetts.

Having said that, two interesting low production cars in the back ground. The Dodge Aspen or is it a Volare/Duster. They were powerful grocery getters with a 318 or optional 360 CI. 1979 Mustang Pace car was a low volume car, was a dog with the smog clogged 302 or the turbo 4 Banger Pinto Engine.

The cruise night spectator demography is a sliding scale -- on one occasion they'll all glance and pass by your car; on another, they'll smother you.........unpredictable.

At least once a week I drive my '29 CCPU or '29 Coupe to a local store for either breakfast or lunch. Everyone seems to like to take pics of them. I live in a rural area of VA and during the summer there is a-lot of people on vacation in the area. I suppose it is not something they see every day. Yesterday went to a local car show with the grand kids where there were many muscle cars and customs. There were also about a half dozen A's, my coupe and PU plus two other pickups, a Tudor and a four door. People seemed to really be interested in our vintage tin, especially the older guys and gals..

holdover made me think of an incident when I was about 8 years old.

I was with my dad and he was talking to a salesman, and the subjects of Model A Fords came up and how Pop would sure like to have a Roadster like when he was a teenager.

The salesman was a real blowhard, but I didn't realize it at the time. He told us 'There are all kinds of Model A's running around in the hill country of Missouri, people are still using them for everyday transportation. You ought to go down there and just pick one out.' (This was early 1960's)

I got all excited and after the guy left I told Pop, 'Let's go. What are we waiting for????"

I'll never forget his look at me out of the side of his eye and the smirk that said 'yeah, r-i-i-i-i-ght," followed by absolute silence.

I learned a valuable lesson THAT day don't always believe a blow hard;).

I really like the center clamp on the front bumper, can I ask where you got it?

Thanks Keith, I bought the car and it was on there but the previous owner gave me a bunch of extra parts and 99% were from mac's, it may have been purchased there.

Not in Lansing, Illinois. Maybe less than a dozen people could manage to walk the extra 30 feet to look at my totally original 1937 Ford Survivor the other day at the Church Car Show across from the airport. The crowd could not get enough of the 1960s muscle though. Seems like all the car "shows" (I use that term loosely here) and cruise nights here in my part of Illinois and NW Indiana are full of modern Camaros, Mustangs and Challengers.

Tony, those people are nuts because that car is OUTSTANDING!!! (I've seen enough '60's and '70's muscle cars to keep me satisfied for years)

Last year me and the missus took the old 28 Tudor to the pizza place for supper. In the parking lot was a nice looking 64 Mustang convertible with a two better looking young blond ladies. When we pulled up, all the young studs came over to ogle our old lady, much to the disgust of the two lovelies.

Sure made the wife's day!

Well, I looked at all the part houses and I can't find it.
It's still very nice, don't lose it.
