Stickey valves

I know Gary is fond of Bronze liners and SS valves. However, I've been using OEM valves and Knurling the guides for a tight fit .0005-.001", Been doing this for years and it works. It cost enough to build these engines and those that can afford it, don't worry about the added cost, but some just want to rebuild a stock engine. While on the subject of guids. Those of you that are rebuilding the esrly pre 49 engines. please go to the solid guides, those split guide just can't seal as well.

Just ran a gallon of gas thru my old tired motor with an upper cylinder lubricant called Morey's. Cant find MMO or equivalent here, (according to the bottle the stuff is made in NZ). For the initial run I used about 5 times the recommended ratio and guess what? She is idling, accelerating, and running 100% better than before. Now I'm gonna cut her back to the recommended ratio and take her out for more n more runs and see what happens. Early results are very encouraging! My old car's got plenty of issues believe me, but maybe sticky valves were one of them. Nothing ventured nothing gained!
