Sticker on driver door jamb

Is there any significance to a long rectangular sticker on the door jamb right next to the windshield hinge? My 31 has one that's painted over that I just assumed was not important to the previous owners since there was no care taken when painting over it. But I just saw a vehicle for sale online that has one that looks similar but can't read it in the picture.

Well that makes sense. Any time frame on when this reminder method stopped showing up at lube shops. I didn't really get any info on the past history of my car and I wish I could get a better idea on when my car was last taken care of before it was stashed away.

I was still putting them on cars in the late 70's.
I think they quit using them about the same time that "service stations" turned into "food stops".
In the early 80's

Before the stickers, there were metal plates which were glued to the door pillar. Ford Parts and Supply offered these in the 60's; the other is an old one from the good old days.

Heh, back in the '70s, the Fitchburg, MA Parts Dude was giving out similar stickers with the Ford blue logo on them. At 25 cents each they weren't a big seller - something about all that work to go to on painting a car perhaps?

I worked at a Standard Oil station with my dad in the 80's. We used to put a little plastic holder inside the glove box with a folded piece cardboard that was a record. It kept track of oil changes, weight and brand. Tune up and filter changes. Most others used the stickers. I think the stickers went away in the late 80's when the Iffy Lube 5 minute oil change type buisenesses started.

The place I take my wife's Explorer puts a clear sticker in the upper left corner of the windshield. "Next Service Due" then the mileage & date.

Some States put a sticker in jamb indicating they approved the car for licensing or titeling...brought a car in from California and State of Washington put sticker in jamb upon inspection...Dick

Phil, those are neat. I want to reproduce some of the Ford type for my cars. Can you tell me what the label reads to the left of "1000 mi," and is the "mi"in all capitals?

Thanks.

If you're at a yard sale and there's a box of round black thingies, they were a storage medium for music. You put 'em on a machine and they went round and round and music came out. And if there's a camera in a old box that has a little door that flips open and it's sort of empty inside, it probably used some stuff we used to call film.

:o dammit i'm getting old........

I believe that these were the Ford blue ones that you were talking about.

Here is mine.
Just a few years before my 1937 went into storage for 50 years.
The date on the sticker is 11-25-59.

The sticker on my '31 deluxe roadster states:

Carl's Esso, Wilmington, Del.

Last oil change: 4-25-57

Mileage: 99,865

There is a Texaco sticker under it and the remnants of another one.
The odometer {still works} is showing 9,646 miles. I believe those are
honest readings. I was told the car was repainted, reupholstered & "B"
block'd sometime in the early 50's. She is my "patina Queen".:)
