steering wheel

Im going to a swap meet tomorrow to buy a new steering wheel for my 28 AR. There will be several vendors from large suppliers there. I understand that it is suppose to be red but are there any brands or manufacturers that are better than others?

Last time I looked at them there were two available, one made in Taiwan that was completely finished and ready to install. The other was made in USA and the molding flashing had not been removed and it was more expensive also. Appearance wise, both appeared to be very acceptable but I did not have an original on hand to compare them to.

I once took a black steering wheel off a friend's AR. I sanded it and cleaned it with grease and wax remover Then I sprayed it with red rustoleum primer. It's the right color and has held up well.

Over the years, I bought 3 red wheels from Bert's. Trimming the flash was no big deal and the wheels look very well made and accurate.

I still have the original red wheel on my 28 and it gets very sticky every time the humidity hits it. I don't think the replacements have that problem.
