Steering wheel removel

I have a 50 ford. I need to remove the sreering wheel. I have removed the nut that holds the wheel on. I have a puller to pull the wheel. as I tighten the puller the the wheel is not coming up. I am having a hard time tightening the puller any more. I was thinking about using a impact wrench on the puller to see if that will work. There is not any rust on the shaft that wheel in attached and have applied WD40. Any suggestions?
Thanks

You might try tapping on the puller jack screw bolt head while applying light pressure to the outer rim of the steering wheel. Sometimes it just takes a little jolt or two to get them to pop loose.

DON'T use impact! Soak it good with PB Blaster or equal for a day or 2 then tighten up your puller as hard as you can then rap it soundly (like hard) with a brass hammer and it'll come loose.

If possible leave the nut on the end of the shaft, you can get a face full of steering wheel if you are pulling the wheel and it lets go suddenly.
My friend has a nasty scar on his chin from a column shroud that suddenly released and slid up.

Mart.

the guys are right, tighten the bolt and whack the end of it several times, tighten and whack, it will release, its like removing a drum off the old fords, patience is required here
