Steering wheel problems

The steering wheel on my 28 is loose on the spline. The nut won't tighten down enough to take the play out of the spline. What can I do to correct this problem?

If I understand correctly, the splines are worn? Try folding up a piece of tin foil and pushing the wheel back on and tighten nut.

mass A man,
Sounds like a recipe for "DISASTER!":eek:
First, determine if wear is on the shaft or in the hole of the steering wheel. Then you can plan how to attack the problem. Bill W.

Yes, perhaps Bill, I suppose in a real pinch it will work. He should just make a call to Bert's in Denver, Co. and buy a GOOD used steering shaft and wheel. If the car has been driven for a long length of time with the slop in that area, both the wheel hub and shaft splines would be worn. I know of no other "fix" for worn out splines anywhere on the car.
