Hello All,

Does anyone make a replacement part in the below photos? One of the guides cracked and i'm looking for a replacement to weld onto the steering column.

Thank you

no one makes that part that I know of. I usually cut them off another junk column. I will look and see if I have any.

Those guides are brazed into the column. I'm not aware of any replacements. You could fabricate your own or harvest the brazed assembly from another column, or simply replace the whole column. There are a couple of lengths of column depending upon the year. Steve Becker at Bert's Model A Store likely has a used column he could set you up with.

Those columns often crack just below where the fitting brazes in. I can't tell for sure from your pictures but it looks like you may have the beginnings of a crack developing.

I have a junk column as well, but I don't remember whether it has that fitting or not. I'll check.

There was a great article a few years back either MARC or MAFCA on repairing the steering column and there's a exhaust part that you can slip in and drill holes to spot weld and make it like new. I think if you as Ron at MARC he might be able to search it or go to the MARC website and search for it.

I've brazed up my share of them. They do like to crack in the sheet metal and that little support casting. Stop drill the crack and braze it up.

The original fittings I have seen on 2-tooth steering columns have been soldered-on. The solder joint is relatively weak, so that is the fittings break loose. Brazing or MIG welding the fitting into place is a good idea.

Thank you, John Hash, for your help with this repair. I'm grateful for this community! John had the part I needed and sold it to me at great price.

This morning, I welded, blasted, primed and painted the steering column

I'm grateful for this community! Cheers everyone!

Glasd it worked out for you, Bashaw. I checked and my junk column also has that bushing, so if anyone else needs one, let me know.
