How does the steering column and steering box seperate, I cant see a nut or anything holding it together or am I just missing it. I've pulled, beat and pry'd but cannot get it to come apart. Any thoughts of wisdom! This is on a '37 pickup

Remove the steering wheel and loosten the clamp at the bottom of the steering tube then slide the tube from the steering box and shaft. Remove the top cover then pull the sector out, then the plate on the end and the shaft will come out.

KEN/ALABAMA; Got most of it, "the column drop" at the dash two bolts, get it lose from the dash, now at the steering box, there is a clamp, like on the tail pipe
one bolt through the clamp. and the column tube is lose, should slid up and off.
That column tube is called ( mask jacket )
You may haft to take two of the three bolts out of the steering box to the frame so it will tilt down, and the tube will slid all the way off??....OLD...BILL

Just an added thought . . . .

When working with the steering column and especially the horn rod, avoid the temptation to 'fudge' getting the horn rod out by bending it in an arc - as you might have to do in a closed car. There have been several posts about how it is difficult if not impossible to get the horn rod straight again after it has been bowed to sneak it out. Lower the steering column, open the back window, do what you have to do to get it out straight.

Just my 2C worth.
