i just installed a 39 steering box in my 35 ford using the 37-39 later bracket. all went well except the light switch hits the splash apron is this normal i don,t want to mod the apron is there any way around this p.s i am using the orignal 35 light switch

Richard-

What I did on my '35 was to use a '37-'40 splash pan. The replacing pan uses the same mounting holes that your '35 uses. The only hitch was the front cross-over pipe on the '35 engine. I had to modify the replacing pan slightly to allow for pipe clearance. If done carefully everything will look "factory."

the 35 steering box is the worst since the model a. but you can greatly improve them with 36 parts the 36 has better ratio and needle bearings on the sector shaft.the 35 housing has to be bored out to 1 3/8 to fit the better bearings this will greatly improve your 35 box and still look completely stock.

I have had 334Charlie rebuild three of my 33-34 boxes and they work really slick. Great guy to deal with and very reasonable with his pricing.
