Steering box interferance on 1940 Ford Coupe

I have a 40 Ford coupe with the Saginaw 525 manual steering box upgrade with a Chev 327 engine and Ford toploader 3 speed. There is no clearance to run block hugger headers so I had to run aftermarket S+S fenderwell headers. They work alright with the exception that the tires scrub when turning so I drive slow. The wheels are 15" and I was told by the company that I had to run 14" which would change the look of the car.
I am thinking of changing the engine to a late model Ford flatty with a Ford toploader 4 speed. The real question is can I run flatty headers with the Saginaw box or do I have to go back to the stock steering box. For manual steering I really like the Saginaw. Any help out there please
