The picture is of a new two tooth steering worm gear pressed on the steering shaft of my 1930 coupe. The end of the shaft and the worm gear should be flat. I have pressed the gear on to within 1/64th of an inch, I am afraid of damaging the shaft if I press the gear any harder. Will that do, or should I take it to a machine shop to finish the pressing?
