statin on AM radio

My 56 Ford has a radio conversion AM/FM. on FM it's fine but AM is a lot of static. I do have plug wires that say something about static free, I don't know what else might cause the static. Gerry

The Pertronix shouln't but the Blaster coil might. Switch it back to a standard output coil and see if it helps.

If I remember right there are a of ground 'strap' that need to be in place also. These are more like a piece of metal than a strap. One of my '56's has one at the cowl where it comes in contact with the hood when it's closed.

There are noise supressors at the voltage regulator, generator and gas tank sending unit on '55s & '56s.

I have ground motor to frame and motor to firewall also hood ground clip, one wire alt, (mabe that's it, GM alt, LOL). Also MSD box. and still have static? Thanks for the input.

if you only have static when the converter is on and station is set on am might just be to much air traffic on that band we have this problem in n.y when we use the recomended station for sirius radio the signals are to close together may be time for a secret audio system

I was wanting a simpl answer like resistor here or there, All I use on AM are the news station and some talk radio now and then. The FM is clear as a bell. Thanks for the help. Gerry
