What do we know about Ford Patrol cars?
I have heard the 54 Fords had Merc engines, probably stick OD? Curious if we know production numbers, VIN codes etc

Later years they had "Interceptor" engines which were upper end stock Fords I believe.

If you go to the old car manual project there is a brochure that shows the details of the 1954 Ford Police car package. Not all Police cars had the 256 mercury Y-block. It was an engine option for the package. A cop car could have had a 6 cylinder engine. The 256 Police Interceptor was all Mercury, except a unique 4 bbl. carb with a lever so the driver could elevate the idle speed with a cable. If you search, there are also brochures online for other years in the 50's.
